Saesee Tiin was a male iktotchi Jedi Knight who served the New Jedi Order in the first days of the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Born in the year 5 BBY on Iktotch, the moon of Iktotchon, Tiin was recruited into the Jedi ranks at a relatively young age.

As an adult Tiin became a renowned starfighter ace, eventually joining Kyp's Dozen-and-Two Avengers. While flying with the squadron in 25 ABY, Tiin was slaughtered in a surprise assault by the Yuuzhan Vong. Tiin's death alongside that of everyone else in Kyp's Dozen who died on that day marked the start of the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Biography

Early life

Saesee Tiin was born in the standard year 5 BBY on the moon of Iktotch and orphaned as a child. A later guardian of his introduced him to piloting during his early years and was said to be a natural pilot. When members from the New Jedi Order identified the teenager as having a strong connection to the Force, his guardians allowed him to leave for training at the academy on Coruscant. Living within the Jedi Temple, Tiin found it embarrassing when his natural telepathic abilities were ridiculed by his peers. While they believed these powers gave him an unfair advantage at the academy, Tiin believed it was more of a hindrance as he had yet to learn to control his abilities. Tiin would admit however, that his abilities gave him an edge during lightsaber combat training as his opponents unwittingly revealed their strategy through their thoughts. Because of his unique abilities, Tiin was shunned by his peers and became extremely reclusive.

Personality and traits

A natural telepath, Master Tiin failed to foresee his demise when the Yuuzhan Vong began their invasion.

Because of the battering winds of the moon, Tiin's species had adapted toughened skin and blunt features.

Powers and abilities

Saesee Tiin possessed exceptional prowess with a lightsaber, wielding many over his long career. Having used a violet, cobalt, and then an emerald lightsaber crystal in his weapon's hilt.

Aside from combat, Tiin was most comfortable as a pilot, serving the New Republic Starfighter Corps as a pilot. Tiin was said to have had some of the most natural piloting skills in the New Jedi Order. Enhanced by his natural telepathic abilities, Tiin was able to not only read minds, but instinctively astrogate his starfighters through hyperspace without a navigation computer.
